Tool 10 is designed to emboss selected indicia, such as characters, symbols, numbers, etc., on an elongated strip of embossable material, such as plastic strip 14 or the like. Some embodiments of the invention are capable of handling more than one width of tape. Other embodiments of the invention are arranged to handle a single width of tape. In the embodiment shown in the figures, the cut-to-length strap is inserted into the tool and embossed. Alternatively, embossing machines can be used with tape reels. The reels may be external to the tool, or may be included in the embosser in other embodiments of the invention. For example, in some embodiments of the invention, the strap may be housed in the handle of the embossing machine.

Embossing tools are designed to emboss selected characters or numerals on an elongated strip of embossable material. This embossable material can be of any suitable construction and can be, for example, a thermoplastic resin. The tape is mechanically deformed by squeezing the tape between dies for selected characters, numbers, etc. Through the first and second rounds, the mold is delivered. The belt passes between the first and second rounds. To emboss the image on the tape, a portion of one wheel is pushed against the opposite wheel so that the tape is deformed therebetween.
