After the fixation device is placed within the bone hole, the fixation device is expanded by pulling the implant into the fixation device in an actuation direction while the fixation device remains stationary, thereby compressing the fixation device against the bone hole with the repair strands disposed between the outer surface of the fixation device and the bone hole, and fixating the tissue without creating knots.
