A sound suppressor for a firearm comprises a cylindrical housing having a rear end cap attached to the housing and having means for mounting to the muzzle of a firearm, a front end cap attached to the housing and having a centrally positioned aperture, and at least one baffle element positioned within the housing between the rear end cap and front end cap. A firearm barrel accessory that quick connects and disconnects to a firearm barrel by rotating is described. The accessory may be a firearm suppressor with a silencer barrel, a mount retention ring located inside the silencer barrel that includes longitudinal grooves that lead to circumferential grooves that have a first radial side and a second radial side. The firearm barrel is attached to a muzzle break that may include a plurality of lugs that fit into longitudinal grooves. After placement in the longitudinal grooves, the silencer barrel and mount retention ring are rotated / twisted about the silencer barrel longitudinal axis so that the circumferential grooves move relative to the lugs until the lugs contact the second radial side, at which point the mount retention ring ceases to rotate while the silencer barrel continues to rotate. A ratchet retention ring may exert tension on the mount retention ring in the rearward direction.

A flash hider, a sound suppressor and a quick-disconnect coupler that holds the sound suppressor to a flash hider is disclosed. The quick-disconnect coupler enables the suppressor to be attached to the flash hider so that the hider forms a nozzle at the entrance to the sound suppressor to facilitate the operation of the suppressor. The coupler includes a collar that threads to the first part of the suppressor over plural holes formed therein. Camming latches set in these holes are held firmly against flat surfaces on the exterior of the flash hider by the collar. A spring lock holds the collar against rotation until it is released.

Adaptor for firing blank ammunition

An adaptor for use with a flash suppressor on a gun barrel in order to allow the gun to repeatedly fire blank rounds of ammunition. The adaptor has a stem that chokes the flow of gases from an exploding round in order to create a back pressure. A body is used to couple the stem to the flash suppressor and permit a cap to be threaded to the body. The cap urges the stem into the throat of the flash suppressor when tightened to the body while the body grips the flash suppressor to hold the stem and cap in place. Belleville washers in the cap pre-loaded and urge the stem into the throat and hold it there securely during repeating firing of the gun.

Flash suppressor apparatus and methods

Flash suppressors having novel expansion features are disclosed. In one embodiment, a suppressor apparatus includes an attachment portion adapted to attach to a gun barrel, and a suppressor portion coupled to the attachment portion. The suppressor portion has a suppressor bore therethrough that is adapted to be aligned with a longitudinal axis of the gun barrel to allow a projectile from the gun barrel to pass therethrough. The suppressor bore is defined by at least one bore surface having at least one expansion groove disposed therein. The expansion groove may be partially-circumferentially disposed about the suppressor bore, or may include a plurality of expansion grooves. In another embodiment, a flash apparatus includes a suppressor portion having a plurality of longitudinally elongated members spaced apart about a circumference of the suppressor bore, each elongated member being separated from adjacent elongated members by a longitudinal slot, at least one longitudinal slot having non-parallel sidewalls.

A muzzle brake for a gun which comprises an annular member mountable on the firing end of the muzzle of the gun, which member comprises a pair of concentrically located annular elements of which the first one is mounted stationary relative to the muzzle of the gun and the second one is slidably movable against the biasing action of a spring relative to said first element in a direction opposite the firing direction of the gun, said movement taking place under the influence of the exhaust gas resulting from the firing of a projectile by the gun, and said movement being from a first extreme position into which said spring forces said second element, in which position the brake is in the "off' position, to a second extreme position where the brake is in the fully "on' position, in which position said exhaust gas can force the first element, and hence the muzzle of the gun, to move in the firing direction, and so counteract the recoil action of the gun.

Modular gun silencer

A modular silencer includes an outer tube and a plurality of chamber separators suspended through a tensile force within a bore of the outer tube and defining chambers between each pair of chamber separators in the silencer. An outer edge of the chamber separators is spaced apart from an inner surface of the tube to allow gas equalization between the chambers. A plurality of tube portions separate the chamber separators from each other and from the proximal and distal ends of the silencer assembly. The tube portions define a continuous center tube suspended in tension within the outer tube and through which the projectile travels. The tube portions have can have angled openings through which gas discharge exits into the chambers. Rotatable sleeves can be disposed over the tube portions to further disrupt gas flow and dissipate heat and sound. A carbon fiber sleeve can be disposed over the outer tube to inhibit burn injuries from contacting the silencer.

Booster for handgun silencers

A booster apparatus that is to be used with an autoloading handgun is provided. The proposed novel device utilizes a piston with five spokes which are secured against rotational movement by interfacing with five of ten indexing notches that are machined on the stopping flange of the booster housing. There are ten indexing notches provided which allows for ten positions of orientation for the silencer in relation to the bore of the host firearm. Unnecessary rotational movement is prevented by the indexing notches which are robust and secure the piston in place. This device when utilized with a handgun silencer will facilitate the proper semi automatic function of the host firearm.

And the interaction between the sear chip and the hammer is modified to provide a decreased trigger pull that maintains a positive and safe contact between the sear and the hammer at the sear ledge.

A coupling system attaches a device such as a blank adaptor or a sound suppressor to the flash hider of a firearm. The device is slid over the flash hider until a set of flat surfaces on it are aligned with a set of holes in the device. Camming latches are held in the holes in the device. The collar carried by the device is then threadably advanced to a locking position with respect to the device where it presses the camming latches into secure engagement with the flat surfaces on the flash hider. Unthreading the collar to the unlocked position allows the camming latches to be moved radially when the device is to be removed or rotated. A spring lock prevents the collar from rotating during use, particularly during firing of the firearm but may be released to rotate the collar between locked and unlocked positions.
