Embodiment Construction

[0035] Referring to Figures 1-3, a powder bell 30 is mounted on a turbine 40 of any of a variety of known types. The powder bell jar 30 can be, for example, disclosed in the application of U.S. Serial No. 10 / 262,239 filed on September 30, 2002, titled bell jar sleeve and assigned to the same assignee as the present application. One of the described types. The published US serial application 10 / 262,239 is hereby incorporated by reference. Turbine 40 may be, for example, of the general type illustrated and described in US Pat. Nos. 5,853,126 and 6,328,224. The turbine 40 rotates the shroud 30 about its axis 41 . Powder entrained in a conveying gas stream 42, such as air, flows from a source 44, such as a fluidized bed containing the powder to be dispensed, via conduit 46 to the back 48 of the bell jar 30. The source 44 can be any of many known types, such as a general fluidized bed illustrated and described in US Patent No. 5,768,800. The powder flow 42 from the conduit 46 f...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for dispensing a powder bell jar of a second charging electrode of charged particles of paint. A paint source provides paint to the paint dispenser. A charge source supplies charges. A first electrode provides charge to the paint as the coating material is distributed. At least one second electrode is disposed at a position away from the first electrode. The first electrode and at least one second electrode are connected to a charge source.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to dispensers for dispensing paint, such as liquid paint (sometimes hereinafter referred to as "paint") or powdered paint (sometimes hereinafter referred to as "paint powder" or "powder") suspended in an air stream, such as from Air flow for fluidized powder bed. There is disclosed herein a rotary dispenser (sometimes referred to hereinafter as a "bell") for dispensing coating powders. However, it is believed to be useful in other applications as well. Background technique [0002] Systems for dispensing paint are known.
