The invention provides a video decoding method which includes the following steps: 1) according to a preset time percentage K which is required for reducing, a processing level of loop wave filtering is determined; 2) a residuals matrix of a video macroblock is calculated; 3) according to the video macroblock after decoding, a predicted value matrix is calculated; 4) according to the processing level of the loop wave filtering, the loop wave filtering is carried out on the sum of the residuals matrix and the predicted value matrix. By adopting the invention, a percentage K is given and the video decoding method can ensure that the calculating time is reduced by K of the former time and image quality which is maintained can be accepted.
