[0029] razor structure

[0030] see figure 1 , 1A and 1B, the razor 1 has a cartridge 18 and a handle 10 comprising a razor head 12 , a grip tube 14 and a battery housing 16 . The razor head 12 includes a connection structure 17 for connecting the cartridge 18 to the handle 10 and a release mechanism 19 for releasing the cartridge 18 from the connection structure 11 . The handle tube 14 is configured to be held by the user during shaving and can contain shaver components that provide the battery-operated functionality (electrical devices) of the shaver, such as electrical components 28, printed circuit board ("PCB") 30, electronic switches, etc. 29 and a lamp 31 mounted on a printed circuit board. The electrical device 28 may be a motor, a vibration generator, a heat source, a pump, a radiation generator, a magnetic field generator, an electric field generator, an electromagnetic field generator, a chemical source, or combinations thereof that may replace the vibrating el...

Abstract

A safety razor (1) has a handle (10) and a cartridge (18) selectively- detachable from the handle. The cartridge has at least one blade with a sharp cutting edge and a beginning shaving utility. A connecting structure (17) is coupled to the handle for attaching or detaching the cartridge from the handle in response to an action. The safety razor includes a sensor (60) that generates a signal in response to the action.

Description

Background of the invention [0001] The present invention relates to safety razors for wet shaving, and more particularly to electric wet shaving systems having disposable cartridges. [0002] Some wet shaving razors have been equipped with battery powered means such as motors for vibrating the shaving cartridge. One such vibrating wet shaving razor is marketed by the Gillette Company of the United States under the trade name Gillette Fusion TM Razor for sale. This razor is characterized in that the battery is located in a chamber inside its handle and the motor is connected to the distal tip on which is mounted the replaceable cartridge and electronic controls for operation of the razor. [0003] Some wet razors attempt to track the amount of blade wear and indicate when the cartridge needs to be replaced. In the process of shaving hundreds of hairs every day, the blades of the shaving cartridges inevitably become dull. Dullness is difficult to spot by visual inspection. ...
