Embodiment Construction

[0014] see figure 1 and 2 , in some examples, the razor 10 includes a disposable cartridge 12 and a handle 14 . The blade holder 12 includes a connection member 18 for detachably connecting the handle 14 and the blade unit 16 to which the blade unit is pivotally connected. The blade unit 16 includes a plastic housing 20 and five elongated blades 28 a, 28 b, 28 b, 28c, 28d, 28e.

[0015] see image 3 , each elongated blade 28a, 28b, 28c, 28d, 28e is supported on a respective elongated support 34a, 34b, 34c, 34d, 34e which may be fixed inside the housing 20 or to be supported during shaving. Blade 28 is allowed to move, as is well known in the art. Any suitable blade support structure or combination of blade and support may be used.

[0016] In some examples, the cutting edges 36a, 36b, 36c, 36d, 36e are separated from the preceding skin contacting element by a decreasing blade span. Taking into account changes in hair length, the shave is optimized as the hair-skin syste...

Abstract

A safety razor cartridge (12) includes a plurality of elongated blades (28) disposed in a housing (20) between a guard (22) and a cap (24). The blades have substantially parallel sharp cutting edges (36). The plurality has first, second, and third consecutively disposed cutting edges. A distance (S1l) between the first and second cutting edges is greater than a distance (S2) between the second and third cutting edges.

Description

field of invention [0001] The present invention relates to safety razors for wet shaving, and more particularly to safety razor cartridges having at least three cutting edges. Background of the invention [0002] Safety razors for shaving are well known. Some razors include multiple blades with sharpened edges. Increasing the number of blades on a safety razor tends to increase the razor's shaving efficiency and provide better pressure distribution on the skin. [0003] When the hair is engaged by the cutting edge of the blade, the cutting force can pull the hair out of the skin. After the hair is pulled out, it does not retract back into the skin immediately. The second blade can further cut the hair before it is fully retracted, a so-called "lag cut", resulting in a closer shave. Safety razors with multiple blades provide the opportunity for multiple cut and pull events as well as multiple lag cuts. [0004] So-called "double engagement" can create an uncomfortable pu...
