Abstract

One aspect of the present invention relates to a diaphragm coupling having first and second diaphragm plates (15, 25) that are joined together around their outer edges. Each diaphragm plate 15, 25 has a central, axially-extending hub (11, 21). The hub (11) of the first plate (15) supports within it a pin member (30) having an outwardly projecting shoulder (31, 36) at each end adapted to engage an internal shoulder (117) on the hub (11) of the first plate (15) at one end and an internal shoulder (215) on the hub (21) of the second plate (25) at the other end so as to limit axial separation of the two hubs (11, 21) from one another.

Background technique [0002] Diaphragm couplings are used to provide a constant velocity connection between two rotating components that allows for small amounts of angular displacement between the components. The coupling consists of two parallel flexible plates joined together around their outer edges and joined at a central mount to respective rotating members.
