Embodiment Construction

[0047] figure 1 A cross section of an organic light emitting diode 1 according to an embodiment is shown. The organic light-emitting diode 1 comprises a layer stack 2 having at least one organic layer 3 for emitting electromagnetic radiation. Stack 2 may also contain other organic and inorganic layers which are necessary or advantageous for forming the diode structure. Examples of such layers are layers for transporting holes or transporting electrons, emissive layers, n-doped layers, p-doped layers, buffer layers and intermediate layers, all of which are well known to those skilled in the art. But for the sake of clarity, these additional layers are not in the figure 1 shown in .

[0048] The laminate 2 contains functional regions with one or more functional layers made of organic materials. These functional layers can be embodied here, for example, as electron-transport layers, electroluminescent layers and / or hole-transport layers. In these functional layers, electroma...

Abstract

The invention relates to an organic light-emitting diode (1) which comprises a layer stack (2) for emitting electromagnetic radiation (6). An electroconductive first connecting layer (4) is arranged on a first surface of the layer stack (2) and an electroconductive second connecting layer (5) is arranged on a second surface of the layer stack (2), said second connecting layer being at least mainly permeable to a characteristic wavelength of the electromagnetic radiation (6) that can be emitted. The organic light-emitting diode is characterized by a conducting contact structure (7) that is arranged on a side of the first connecting layer (4) opposite the layer stack, said contact structure being connected to the second connecting layer (5) in the region of a plurality of recesses (12) of the first connecting layer (4). The invention further relates to a contact arrangement (15) for a flat, optically active element and to a method for producing organic light-emitting diodes.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to electronic devices having planar, optically active regions, and in particular to organic light emitting diodes. In this context, planar means that the optically active element extends significantly further in the first and second spatial direction tensioning the first and second surface than in the remaining third spatial direction. Background technique [0002] A problem with conventional light-emitting diodes is the uniform introduction of the operating voltage. Usually, this operating voltage is applied to the edge regions of the two connecting layers for the organic stack. The introduction of electricity through metallic connecting layers is less dangerous due to the good electrical conductivity of metals, whereas the voltage applied to other types of connecting layers, in particular transparent, drops from the edges. This is because such a layer has a lower lateral conductivity compared to the metal lay...
