Embodiment 1

[0017] The zeta potential of various polymers used in the ink-receiving layer of the substrates described herein was measured, including polyurethane and other polymers. The zeta potential values are shown in Table 1. This zeta potential value is representative of ionic properties. Positive values represent cationic properties and negative values represent anionic properties.

[0030] Different polyurethanes were tested using Windex Solvent wipe test. Windex the polyurethane-coated surface Wipe with a solvent-soaked cloth. Based on Windex The formulation was classified as pass / fail by how well the surface remained on the solvent wiped side. A "pass" condition is given to any such test sample, that is, when using Windex After the cleaner wiped the membrane 6 times, the membrane did not show any damage. A "failure" condition is given to any such test sample that uses Windex After the cleaner wiped the film 6 times, the film was damaged. The test results for different formulations are shown in Table 4 below.

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to an inkjet printable article having an ink receiving layer bonded to a core substrate, the ink receiving layer including a blend of i) at least one self-crosslinkable polyurethane resin; ii) at least one self-crosslinkable styrene butadiene copolymer; and iii) at least one styrene acrylic copolymer, wherein the ink receiving layer is anionic or neutral, and wherein the core substrate includes a material selected from the group consisting of a woven material and a non-woven material.

Description

Background of the invention [0001] The present invention relates generally to woven and nonwoven substrates. These substrates have been found to have poor print quality and durability when printed with inks specially developed for printing vinyl and other similar organic materials. A major problem with such substrates is the lack of a surface layer that would allow good wetting of the ink when it hits the substrate. The result is usually low color gamut and undesired bleeding. Furthermore, the printed areas generally do not have good rub resistance. Contents of the invention [0002] Embodiments of the articles, methods and systems disclosed herein advantageously demonstrate that styrene acrylic, self-crosslinkable The optimized coating formulation of polyurethane and self-crosslinkable styrene-butadiene copolymer significantly improves color gamut (up to 500,000 gamut) and bleeding. The durability of printed samples was also improved. In one embodiment, the ink printed...
