Abstract

The invention provides a touch system, a method for sensing the coordinates of a referent and a method for sensing the height of the referent. The method for sensing the coordinates of the referent comprises the following steps of: capturing an image window crossing the surface of a panel by using at least one image sensor; identifying the height coordinates of the referent relative to the touch system according to the pixel variation value of each columns of pixels in the image window; and calculating the plane coordinates of the referent relative to the touch system according to the position of a shielding shadow in the image window. By adopting the touch system, the method for sensing the coordinates of the referent and the method for sensing the height of the referent, the image sensor can be controlled to execute different functions according to the sensed different height coordinates and plane coordinates of the referent relative to the touch system, wherein the functions include but are not limited to control the action, the writing or the drawing of a display cursor of an image display.
