Abstract

The present invention provides a method performed by a server of a communication network for enabling an HTTP media stream to be accessed by a client, wherein a Media Presentation Description (MPD) is generated such that the MPD is provided with at least one periodic units, such that at least one representation is provided to each periodic unit, and at least two alternative representations are provided to at least one of the at least one periodic unit, wherein each representation is provided with at least one valid representation of a media segment URI Each media segment URI references at least one media segment of the HTTP media stream. The generated MPD enables the client to select a representation and retrieve the referenced media segment based on the selected representation.
