Abstract

The pulper (1) has a rotatable drum (2) comprising a dissolving portion (7) to dissolve a fiber material that is contained in a fiber mass suspension and supplied into the pulper. A washing part (8) recovers fibers from the fiber material dissolved in the dissolving portion. The drum comprises a thicken-part (6) for increasing material density of the fiber mass suspension. The thicken-part in the drum is arranged on a side of an upper flow in flow direction of the fiber mass suspension with respect to the dissolving portion. The thicken-part is provided with gap-like apertures (10). An independent claim is also included for a method for dissolving a fiber material.
