The method provided by the invention has the advantages that when the part of hydrogenated c5 fraction is separated to produce cyclopentene, 2-methyl-2-butene which is very approximate to cyclopentene in boiling point is converted into a heavy component with higher boiling point through the dimerization reaction on a catalyst bed layer, so that cyclopentene is easily separated from 2-methyl-2-butene, so that not only is the energy consumption remarkably reduced, but also cyclopentene with purity over 99% can be produced.
