A first device may generate and send an electronic communication to a second device. The first device may also capture expressions of a user of the first device (hereinafter referred to as the first user) and generate data that infers the emotional state of the first user. The generated data may be sent to the second device. In one configuration, the second device may receive the above data and determine the emotional state of the first user based on the received data. The second device may provide a triggered response based on the determined emotional state. Abstract

Methods, systems, and devices are described for augmenting electronic communications with emotional context. Electronic communications is received from a first device (115-b-1). An expression of a user of the first device is captured at the first device (115-b-1). Data based on the captured expression is received from the first device. The received data is analyzed to determine emotional context associated with the user of the first device (115-b-1). A haptic response is generated based on the determined emotional context. The haptic response is associated with the received electronic communications. The haptic response is provided concurrently with the access of the electronic communications to indicate the emotional context of the user.

Background technique [0001] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of electronic communication content, such as voice, data, and so on. While electronic forms of communication (eg, e-mail, text messages, voice mail, telephone) have enabled people to easily connect and interact with one another, the abundance of electronic communication lacks direct, face-to-face communication.
