Embodiment Construction

[0034] figure 1 A top view of the foil 100 is shown. The foil 100 is made of an electrically insulating and flexible material. The foil 100 may be, for example, a piece of flexible plastic foil, preferably a piece of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) foil. Foil 100 includes a figure 1 Front 101 seen in. The foil 100 furthermore comprises a back side 102 opposite the front side 101 .

[0035] Arranged on the front side 101 of the foil 100 are a plurality of antenna structures 110 . The antenna structures 110 are arranged in a regular grid pattern. exist figure 1 In the example shown, the foil 100 includes thirty antenna structures 110 arranged in five rows.

[0036] Each antenna structure 110 includes a conductive material. The antenna structure 110 is printed on the foil 100 by using silver ink or other kinds of conductive ink. The antenna structure 110 may be printed on the foil 100, eg, using a screen printing process.

Abstract

An antenna comprises a foil sheet with a front side and a back side, a conductive antenna structure printed on the front side of the foil sheet using a conductive ink, and a metallic connector connected to a contact pad of the antenna structure. The connector comprises; metallic blade which is pierced through the foil sheet and the contact pad.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to an antenna according to claim 1 and to a method for manufacturing an antenna according to claim 10 . Background technique [0002] Printed antennas are known in the prior art. Such printed antennas are fabricated by printing the antenna structure on a carrier using conductive ink, such as silver ink. It is known that when silver ink is exposed to air, it begins to oxidize and fade. Such oxidation is known to degrade the electrical properties of antenna structures printed with silver ink. In order to prevent oxidation, it is known in the prior art to cover the printed antenna structure with a protective layer of paint. However, lacquer layers are also known to degrade the electrical properties of printed antennas. The antenna efficiency of a printed antenna covered by a lacquer layer is lower than that of a printed antenna not covered with a lacquer layer. [0003] It is further known that antennas comprising antenna struct...
