Embodiment Construction

[0029] As mentioned before, maximum disparity vector derivation in 3DV-HTM can involve high computational complexity. Figure 4A Schematic diagram of an example of associated depth blocks composed for 16x16 depth samples, and the derivation of the disparity vector may have to compare 256 depth values to determine the maximum depth value. Accordingly, the present invention discloses a simplification of disparity vector derivation, wherein a maximum depth value is searched for in a subset of relevant depth blocks. A subset contains fewer depth samples than all samples in the associated depth block. This subset excludes a single sample subset comprising the central sample of the associated depth block. As an example, the subset could correspond to Figure 4B Four corner samples in the relevant depth block shown. A disparity vector can be derived from the maximum depth value among the four corner depth values. Therefore, the number of depth samples contained in it is reduced...

Abstract

A method and apparatus for three-dimensional video encoding or decoding using the disparity vector derived from an associated depth block are disclosed. The method determines an associated depth block for a current texture block and derives a derived disparity vector based on a subset of depth samples of the associated depth block. The subset contains less depth samples than the associated depth block and the subset excludes a single-sample subset corresponding to a center sample of the associated depth block. The derived disparity vector can be used as an inter-view motion (disparity) vector predictor in Inter mode, an inter-view (disparity) candidate in Merge mode or Skip mode. The derived disparity vector can also be used to locate a reference block for inter-view motion prediction in Inter mode, inter-view candidate in Merge or Skip mode, inter-view motion prediction, inter-view disparity prediction, or inter-view residual prediction.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims to be filed on June 28, 2012, application number 61 / 665,707 titled "Disparity vector derivation for multi-view video coding and 3D video coding" , the subject matter of which is hereby incorporated by reference. technical field [0003] The present invention relates to three-dimensional (3D) video coding. More specifically, the present invention relates to simplified disparity vector derivation for 3D video coding. Background technique [0004] In recent years, 3D television (television, TV) has become a technical trend, which brings viewers a sensory viewing experience. Many technologies have been developed to enable 3D viewing. Among them, multi-view (multi-view) is a key technology for 3DTV. Traditional video is a 2D medium that can only provide the viewer with a single view of a scene from a camera angle. However, multi-view video can provide arbitrary viewpoints of dynamic scenes, as ...
