Abstract

The invention relates to a technology and device for forming crimped edges or folded edges on molded fiber pulp products, and products which are formed by the technology and device. The technology comprises the following steps: pretreating the molded fiber pulp products by a chemical agent to temporarily reduce the rigidity of the edge part of the molded fiber pulp products; and crimping or folding edges of the molded fiber pulp products. The device comprises a movement mechanism with a pretreatment station for pretreating the molded fiber pulp products by the chemical agent to temporarily reduce the rigidity of the edge part of the molded fiber pulp products, and a shaping mechanism for crimping or folding edges of the molded fiber pulp products. Compared with the products with plane edges, the strength and rigidity of the molded fiber pulp products can be improved and the weight of the molded fiber pulp products can be reduced by using the technology and the device.
