Problems solved by technology

This frequency reuse means that the system may become interference limited because many or all cells can transmit simultaneously on a large or all time and frequency resources
Also, power boosting may not necessarily improve cell edge performance as both serving cell signal and interfering signal strength will be boosted

[0275] - two CSI instances use one or more identical CSI-RS resources assumed to be interfering signals;

[0276] - two CSI instances use one or more of the same CSI-RS resources assumed to be the desired signal; and / or

[0277] - An indication from higher layers that the second CSI case or CSI process may include a differential feedback component from the first CSI case or CSI process, etc.

[0278] Embodiments contemplate one or more techniques that may be used in the periodic CSI reporting process of a WTRU that may be configured with multiple transmission points or CSI-RS resources.

[0279] In one or more embodiments, for example, the WTRU may report CSI periodically in accordance with configured (PUCCH) CSI reporting modes and / or sub-patterns. The reporting schema and / or sub-schema may define which predetermined report types are delivered in which reporting instances.

Abstract

Embodiments contemplate methods and systems for determining and communicating channel state information (CSI) for one or more transmission points (or CSI reference signal resources). Embodiments further contemplate determining transmission states may include applying at least one CSI process for channel state information (CSI) reporting. Embodiments also contemplate aperiodic and / or periodic reporting of one or more report types (e.g., rank indicator (RI)) of CSI, perhaps based on one or more reporting modes that may be configured for each of the one or more CSI process.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 61 / 655,359, filed June 4, 2012, entitled "COMMUNICATING CHANNEL STATE INFORMATION (CSI) OF MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION POINTS," and filed August 1, 2012, entitled "COMMUNICATING CHANNEL STATE INFORMATION (CSI) OF MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION POINTS", US Provisional Application No. 61 / 678,559, the disclosure of which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety for all purposes. Background technique [0003] The wireless communication system can be evaluated based on its average cell throughput and / or its cell edge throughput. Cell edge users may experience very low received signal strength, and cell edge performance may be affected by inter-cell interference (ICI). This is true for systems designed to operate with frequency reuse factors of 1 or close to 1. This frequency reuse means that the system may become interference limited because many or all cel...
