Embodiment Construction

[0029] The present invention provides a joint assembly for medical devices, including but not limited to: implantable medical devices that can be used to occlude holes, holes, defects, appendages, catheters, cavities, blood vessels, organs in a patient's body or structure etc. In certain embodiments, the linkage assembly disposed therein includes a receiver coupling the plurality of elongated frame members to the hub component. Each receiver of the plurality of elongated frame members is configured to pivot relative to the hub such that the attachment region of each elongated frame member is movable relative to the hub.

[0030] figure 1 An example occlusion device 100 is shown that may be used to occlude a hole, defect, hole, appendage, vessel, or conduit in a patient. In some examples, occlusion device 100 may be used to occlude the left atrial appendage (LAA) of a human heart. The occlusion device 100 may be delivered intravascularly through or on a catheter system to a...

Abstract

An apparatus (100) for occluding a hole in a patient comprising a frame (110) comprising a plurality of elongate members (111), and a hub part (102) comprising a plurality of attachment members (150), wherein, for each of the plurality of elongate members, the first end of the elongate member is fixedly attached to one of the plurality of attachment members at the attachment region. The frame and hub together form at least one occlusive element. Each attachment receiver of the plurality of attachment members is configured to pivot relative to the hub such that each attachment region is movable relative to the hub.

Description

[0001] Cross-references to related applications [0002] This application claims priority to US Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 61 / 727,328, filed November 16, 2012. The content of the earlier application is considered part of the present application, the content of which is incorporated in the present application by way of reference. technical field [0003] The present invention relates to linkage assemblies useful in medical devices including implantable devices that can be used to occlude holes, conduits or structures in a patient. Background technique [0004] Cardiac features such as septal defects and atrial appendages, which often disturb blood flow to the heart, are associated with a variety of cases involving the heart. For example, complications from disturbed blood flow in the left atrial appendage (LAA) and associated atrial fibrillation can contribute to embolic stroke. The LAA is a muscular pouch extending from the anterolateral wall of the heart's...
