The method includes the steps that whether a person is in a room or not is detected through a human-sensing sensor module; if yes, the air conditioner is controlled to operate in a current user-set mode; and if not, a comfort and energy conservation mode is executed. According to the comfort and energy conservation mode, the following process is periodically executed and includes the steps that a current indoor environment temperature value is acquired and compared with a set comfort temperature value, and whether the current indoor environment temperature value indicates a comfort temperature or not is judged; if not, the air conditioner is controlled to operate in the user-set mode previous to the comfort and energy conservation mode; and if yes, a target set temperature value is adjusted to reduce the difference value between the current indoor environment temperature value and the target set temperature value, and the air conditioner is controlled to operate.
