A humidifier and humidity sensor for use with a breathing assistance apparatus. The humidity sensor senses absolute humidity, relative humidity and/or temperature at both the patient end and humidifier end. The humidifier may also include provision to both control independently the humidity and temperature of the gases. Further, a chamber manifold facilitates easy connection of the humidifier to various outlets, inlets and sensors. A heated conduit provides a more effective temperature profile along its length.

In a data center, a plurality of racks are cooled by activating a cooling device and opening a controllable partition configured to vary a supply of cooling fluid within a zone of the data center. The zone includes at least one associated rack of the plurality of racks. In addition, the temperature of at least one associated rack is sensed and it is determined whether the sensed temperature is within a predetermined temperature range. Furthermore, the controllable partition is manipulated to vary the supply of the cooling fluid to the zone in response to the sensed temperature being outside the predetermined temperature range.

A passive ventilation control system and method. The system includes passive vents throughout a building. The vents may be arranged in multiple sets, with each set being substantially vertically aligned through multiple floors or the entire height of the building. Sensors are positioned inside and/or outside the building for sensing different environmental parameters or atmospheric conditions. The sensors send signals to a controller, which automatically adjusts airflow through the vents in response to the signals from the sensors.

The invention maintains the IAQ parameters within their respective acceptable ranges by automatically manipulating certain HVAC system functions including heating, cooling, humidification, dehumidification, ventilation, addition or removal of materials or compounds which affect IAQ parameters, airflow volume and air recirculation. In one embodiment of the invention, a non-HVAC-specific venting system is used to augment HVAC adjustment of airflow volume and air recirculation. This may include bathroom, kitchen and attic venting systems as well as whole-home vacuum systems.

An Electronically-Controlled Register vent (ECRV) that can be easily installed by a homeowner or general handyman is disclosed. The ECRV can be used to convert a non-zoned HVAC system into a zoned system. The ECRV can also be used in connection with a conventional zoned HVAC system to provide additional control and additional zones not provided by the conventional zoned HVAC system. In one embodiment, the ECRV is configured have a size and form-factor that conforms to a standard manually-controlled register vent. In one embodiment, a zone thermostat is configured to provide thermostat information to the ECRV. The invention discloses a cleaning control method for an indoor heat exchanger of an air conditioner. The cleaning control method includes the steps that when the air conditioner gets into the automatic cleaning mode, the refrigeration mode is started; evaporating temperature is reduced to enable water in air to be condensed into frost or thin ice on the indoor heat exchanger; after the air conditioner continuously runs in the refrigeration mode for set refrigeration time, the running mode of the air conditioner is switched to the heating mode from the refrigeration mode so that the frost or the thin ice on the heat exchanger can be thawed to clean the heat exchanger. The invention further discloses the air conditioner. By means of the cleaning control method and the air conditioner, automatic cleaning of the indoor heat exchanger of the air conditioner can be achieved, and therefore it can be avoided that the heat exchange efficiency of the heat exchanger is reduced.

A ceiling vent air diverter is taught, in the preferred embodiment, which incorporates a diverter body configured to cover beneath an existing air vent supplying air to a room of a building. The diverter body has a rectangular flat bottom and upstanding sides with each upstanding side having a discharge air slot permitting air to be distributed in opposed directions from the diverter at a ceiling level. A system and method for cooling and heating of buildings consisting of an integrated assembly of devices, including a variable speed air handler, hot water heating coil, outside air damper, controller, and optional compressor-based air conditioner. During summer the system utilizes nighttime outside air for cooling and uses air temperature predictions to provide information about optimal control settings and to maintain comfort. During winter the system varies airflow with heating demand and ventilates with outside air to maintain indoor air quality.

Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a cooling duct assembly for electronic equipment installed in a cabinet. The cooling duct assembly comprises at least one main duct in fluid communication with a front portion of the cabinet. The at least one main duct receives cold air from the front portion of the cabinet and routes the cold air toward a back portion of the cabinet. Additionally, the cooling duct assembly comprises at least one side duct in fluid communication with the at least one main duct. The at least one side duct receives the cold air from the at least one main duct and routes the cold air to at least one side air intake opening on the electronic equipment.
