Abstract

The invention discloses a cell selection and control method and apparatus which are used for making idle UE reside in different RAT (Radio Access Technology) cells in a balanced way and preventing a single RAT cell from being overloaded. The cell selection control method provided in the invention comprises the following steps that a base station determines the corresponding relations of multiple frequency points and service priorities set for service types, wherein at least two frequency points in different RAT conditions correspondingly have different set service priorities for the same service type; and the base station informs user equipment UE of the corresponding relations of the multiple frequency points and the service priorities set for the service types.
