The invention discloses a method for realizing multiplayer voice and video communication on a mobile terminal and a mobile terminal. The method comprises the steps of entering an information exchange interface of a discussion group, receiving an operation command to initiate a multiplayer session, and sending an invitation request of the multiplayer session to members in the discussion group; determining that the members in the discussion group accept the invitation to join the multiplayer session, entering a multiplayer voice session interface, and conducting the multiplayer voice session with the member accepting the invitation; and receiving an operation command to switching the voice session into a video session, and acquiring and displaying the video images of the selected members by a user in the multiplayer voice session. The technical scheme of the invention can facilitate online multiplayer voice and video communication on the mobile terminal and communication of the user with friends and relatives.
