Embodiment Construction

[0027] The exemplary embodiment shown in the drawings will be described below, and professional language will be used here to introduce the exemplary embodiment. However, it should be understood that the scope of the present invention will not be limited thereby. The changes and other variations of the features of the present invention shown here and other applications of the principles of the present invention as exemplified herein are also considered to be within the scope of the present invention.

[0028] As mentioned above, known devices and methods for cutting food products can use a substantially planar cutting wheel to produce flat or wavy slices. However, the known food cutting machine obviously cannot produce flakes and slices with compound curves in a controllable manner. Advantageously, the present invention provides a system for cutting food products, which can generate a new family of cutting shapes. This cutting system can be used to cut a variety of vegetables a...

Abstract

A cutting head for a food product cutting system includes a generally cylindrical rotatable body, having a radius and configured to rotate about an axis, and a plurality of spatially separated, generally parallel elongate cutting blades, arranged in a circular array centered on the axis and defining a perimeter of the body. Each blade has a long dimension and an outwardly-oriented cutting edge. The generally cylindrical rotatable body is connectable to a driving mechanism configured to rotate the cutting head about the axis, and is positionable adjacent to a food product delivery mechanism, whereby food product that contacts the cutting edges of the array of blades in a direction generally perpendicular to the axis is cut by the blades into slices having a repeatable curvature.

Description

[0001] priority [0002] This application claims the priority of U.S. Patent Application No. 14 / 297033 and U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 61 / 832554. The application date of the U.S. Patent Application No. 14 / 297033 is June 5, 2014, entitled CUPCUTTERANDMETHOD. The filing date of U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 61 / 832554 is June 7, 2013, and the title is CUPCUTTER. The entire contents of these two documents are incorporated into this application for reference. Technical field [0003] The present invention generally relates to systems and methods for cutting food products. More particularly, the present invention relates to a cutting knife for food, which can produce flakes and slices with compound curves. Background technique [0004] There have been various devices and methods for cutting foods (such as root vegetables, etc.) into various shapes. For example, known potato slicers (such as UrschelOV and Translicer) can use a substantially flat cutting wheel to pro...
