Embodiment Construction

[0037] The first embodiment of the insulating structure 1 , which is shown in plan view in the figure, has three insulating layers 3 . The first insulating layer 3a is shown in solid lines, the second insulating layer 3b is shown in thick dashed lines and the third insulating layer 3c is shown in thin dashed lines. The insulating layer 3 has cavities 4 having a honeycomb or hexagonal cross-section, which are separated from each other by walls 5 . Wall 5 in layer thickness S (see image 3 ) from one side of the insulating layer 3 to the other side. The three insulating layers 3 are arranged one above the other and are offset relative to one another perpendicular to the layer thickness S, so that in the direction of the layer thickness S at any point in the insulating structure 1 all insulating layers 3 do not have the same wall 5 .

Abstract

The invention relates to an insulating structure (1) for a battery (2), wherein the insulating structure (1) comprises a plurality of superimposed insulating layers (3) each having a layer thickness (S). The insulating layers (3) have a chamber structure having a plurality of chambers (4), the chambers (4) and adjacent chambers (4) of the corresponding insulating layer (3) are separated by walls (5). The plurality of insulating layers (3) have at least a first layer (3a), a second layer (3b) and a third layer (3c), wherein the insulating layers (3) are arranged one above the other, in that the adjacent chambers (4) of different insulating layers (3) are perpendicular to the layer thickness (S) and offset relative to each other.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to an insulating structure for a battery, in particular a lithium-ion battery, wherein the insulating structure has a plurality of insulating layers arranged one above the other, each with a layer thickness. Background technique [0002] To provide electrical energy, batteries are used as current sources in many different fields. Batteries have the advantage over alternative current sources that they are available in almost any size and shape and are therefore particularly well suited for applications requiring mobility of the corresponding current source. In motor vehicles, in particular rechargeable lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries are used, since Li-ion batteries have a particularly high energy density and, compared with other batteries, have a low density and a relatively low memory effect. [0003] Especially in mobile applications, such as in motor vehicles, the ratio of the capacity to mass of the battery is important. This...
