specific Embodiment approach

[0093] refer to figure 1 , a method for analyzing an ANS state includes steps S1 to S13.

[0094] In step S1, first time-varying signals or data representing quasi-periodic events generated by a biological system governed by the patient's ANS are acquired. For example, the biological system is the patient's cardiac system, respiratory system or brain system. The first time-varying signal is an original signal, ie a non-smoothed signal and a non-filtered signal. Thus, all variants of this signal are preserved, including micro-variations.

[0095] In step S2, quasi-periodic events in the first time-varying signal are detected, and the time intervals between these quasi-periodic events are calculated to form a second time-varying signal or data, a "time-interval signal", given by A sequence of discrete values that counts time intervals. These series of time-varying signals are chaotic. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the time-varying signal collected in...

Abstract

Methods and systems for analyzing the state of an autonomic dysfunction of an autonomic nervous system for caring for a patient are disclosed. In some embodiments, the method includes measuring an autonomic nervous system condition, and calculating a root of a sum of values. One or more of the values is equal to a sum of difference values raised to an exponent, and the difference values are each equal to a difference of a first index value and a second index value. The first and second index values are each calculated based on the autonomic nervous system condition. The method also includes displaying, via a display unit, a representation of the calculated root.
