Abstract

The present disclosure generally relates to methods and systems for feature tracking across a network. The present disclosure provides feature tracking capabilities for features including, but not limited to, automatic quality of service (auto QoS), power over Ethernet (PoE), and fabric compatibility. Network commands can be implemented with the ability to verify signatures across network paths or across the entire network. The output of this network command can produce a display with details about supported features. This command can also produce a list of devices that need to be upgraded to support any number of features of interest. Embodiments of the feature tracking capability may be configured such that once the final subnet (or endpoint) is reached, the query terminates. Alternatively, the feature trace capability can be configured such that the query terminates after a maximum hop count or trace total (trace_ttl) is reached. This limit prevents continuous flooding of the network.
