Abstract

The application discloses a method for supporting paging optimization and equipment. Firstly, a first base station receives UE historic access information from UE, a second base station or a core network; then, the first base station generates paging optimization recommendation information according to the UE historic access information and sends the paging optimization recommendation information to the core network, and the core network generates paging auxiliary information according to the received paging optimization recommendation information and sends the paging auxiliary information to a corresponding base state; and finally a base station which receives a paging area determines to send a paging message to a cell according to the paging area. The invention helps the core network to decide a paging strategy through information such as the historic access information, position area information of the UE, the position of the UE in the cell and the speed of the UE, so that objects of reducing the paging issuing of an S1 interface, the paging range and the paging source are achieved. Especially for the static or low-speed moving UE, the paging resource can be substantially reduced with the adoption of the invention.
