The method comprises the following steps: dividing a geographic region into multiple relatively independent grid cells without overlapping power supply ranges; mapping all distribution transformers into corresponding grid cells; by means of a similarity algorithm, dividing types of the distribution transformers in the grid cells into pure household distribution transformers, pure commercial distribution transformers or mixed distribution transformers; calculating load information of the distribution transformers in the grid cells, and calculating a maximal load rate, a minimal load rate and an average load rate of the distribution transformers in the grid cells during different periods of time, and determining power utility characteristics of the distribution transformers in the grid cells; calculating a load indicator of the distribution transformer in each grid cell; and displaying the power utility characteristic and load indicator of the distribution transformer in each grid cell in the form of a map, so as to determine a distribution network operation indicator of the grid cell.
