The method comprises the steps that an application installation command sent by a user is received, wherein the application installation command is sent by the user dragging identification information of a to-be-installed application in an application store; according to the application installation command, the to-be-installed application is installed, and dragging of the identification information by the user is monitored; when it is monitored that the identification information is dragged to a first desktop thumbnail displayed at the same time as the application store, whether an icon of the to-be-installed application is permitted to be added into a first desktop corresponding to the first desktop thumbnail or not is judged; if the icon of the to-be-installed application is permitted to be added into the first desktop, the icon of the to-be-installed application is permitted to be added into the first desktop.
