Abstract

The invention discloses a sealing tool (10) for forming a joint in a sealing element (L) located on an overlapping section of a strip (S), comprising a body (14), at least partially housed in A motor (28) and drive train (30) in the body (14), a power source (12) and a seal assembly (16) mounted to the body (14). The sealing assembly (16) is operatively coupled to the motor (28). The sealing assembly (16) includes at least one jaw (52, 54) having a pair of opposing jaw elements (52a, 52b; 54a, 54b). Each jaw element (52a, 52b; 54a, 54b) has two edges for cutting into sections of said seaming element (L) and said strip (S) and forming curved tabs. The jaw element edges are configured to cut into sections of the seam and the strip material at different distances within the width of the seaming element (L) and the strip material (S). A method of forming a seal and a seal formed by said tool and said method are disclosed.
