Devices are provided for manipulating tissue during a surgical procedure. In certain embodiments, an end effector is operably coupled to the end of an elongate shaft. The end effector has at least one tissue support linkage movably coupled thereto such that upon application of a first actuation force thereto, the tissue support linkage moves laterally outward from within the end effector to enable the surgeon to manipulate/support adjacent tissue therewith. Upon application of another actuation force to the tissue support linkage, the tissue support linkage is caused to move substantially completely within the outer perimeter of the end effector to enable the end effector to be inserted through a lumen/opening or passageway. In various embodiments, the end effector may be selectively articulateable relative to the elongate shaft.

The present invention provides an improved apparatus and method for automatically compressing, rolling, and packaging individual mattresses in a compressed state.

A recloseable storage bag is disclosed which may include first and second sides having closed sides and an open top. Primary closure members may be provided proximate the top, with a secondary closure element being provided in one of the sides to enable gas to be evacuated from the bag after the primary closure members are closed. The secondary closure member may further include the ability to prevent liquid from exiting the bag therethrough.

The present invention relates to compact palletizers that include a stretch-wrap operation as the pallet is built. Specifically, the present invention uses a robot to place items from a fixed infeed elevation either above or, alternatively, below the height of the finished load. A four-sided compression mechanism compresses the rough-built load to the final pallet size and then the entire layer is released to the pallet.

Individual items or group of items are picked and placed onto a layer support device in a loose orientation. A novel packaging article and method are disclosed for an array of flexible, absorbent articles compressed or uncompressed, having an article front face, and article back face, an article top face, an article bottom face, and a pair of article side faces. An upper article section and a lower article section have mutually different calipers. The flexible, absorbent articles are placed in a configuration array such that article front faces contact article front faces or such that article back faces contact back faces of adjacent absorbent articles. The package provides an array having preferred size and requires less compressibility force. A flexible outer casing does not require compressing wrapping to maintain the array as previously required in conventional packaging arrays having flexible outer casing. The packaging article and method are particularly suited for providing preferred advantages to the packaging and commercial distribution of disposable diapers.

A film dispenser for a stretch wrapping apparatus is provided. The film dispenser includes a pre-stretch assembly having a top portion mounted to and extending downwardly from a drive plate of a roll carriage frame. The pre-stretch assembly includes two pre-stretch rollers having first ends connected to the roll carriage frame and second ends connected to one another. The pre-stretch rollers may be coated. The pre-stretch assembly further includes a cantilevered idle roller mounted to the drive plate and positioned between the pre-stretch rollers. A film path is defined by the space between the pre-stretch rollers and the idle roller. The film path is easily accessible via the bottom end of the pre-stretch assembly.

The invention discloses a full-automatic plastic bag folding and strapping machine. The machine comprises a frame, a plastic bag conveying device, a plastic bag folding device which is arranged behind a plastic bag lifting handle cutting device, and a plastic bag strapping device which is arranged below the plastic bag folding device and is used for strapping folded plastic bags with strapping tapes. After piled up, the bag materials of the plastic bags are conveyed to the plastic bag lifting handle cutting device by the plastic bag conveying device, lifting handle structures are processed, and the plastic bags are conveyed to the plastic bag folding device by the plastic bag conveying device to accomplish a required folding state, fed into the plastic bag strapping device and strapped by the strapping tapes. The invention has the advantages that: the full-automatic plastic bag folding and strapping machine has a high automation degree, high production efficiency and low processing cost and is reliably operated.

A tensioning device is provided that includes a separable punching and cutting mechanism. Provided is an impact head that holds a buckle while the band that resides within the buckle is tensioned. After a predetermined tension is achieved, a mechanism is used to lock the band with respect to the buckle then to cut the band. Various data related to tension and cutting performance may also be outputted by the invention.

This method and apparatus contemplate the making of pocketed springs for mattresses and cushions by inserting compressed springs at intervals along and between the plies of a folder two-ply strip of sheeting, maintaining the springs compressed therein while seaming the edges of the plies to form a sleeve about the compressed springs as the strip is drawn lengthwise toward a release point at which each spring is free to expand to spread the plies. This transposes the edge seaming to mid-height of the spring. A previously made cross seam incorporating the transposed edge seaming limits the forward movement of the spring and a further such cross seam made behind the spring encloses the spring within an individual pocket of the sleeve. The repetition of spring release and cross seaming behind each spring released produces a string or chain of pocketed springs with the closing seam of the sleeve at mid-height of the springs.

A method and apparatus for twisting and tightening a wire with a free end portion around at least two objects, e.g. iron bars for reinforced concrete, for binding the objects together. The method and apparatus enables a tighter and stronger binding to be performed even by means of a portable device and with the use of less binding wire than required by conventional devices.

The invention relates to a method for producing an especially panel-shaped vacuum insulation element which is wrapped in a film and is filled with a powder. According to the method, the unmolded, loose powder is filled, particularly poured, into the opening of a bag which is formed from a high-barrier film and is open on one side. A filter material that is permeable to air and impermeable to powder dust is fixed to the internal face of the film bag in the area of the opening of the filled film bag such that the interior of the bag is closed in a dust-tight manner while air can still be discharged. The interior of the dust-tightly closed film bag is then evacuated and the evacuated film bag is air-tightly closed in a vacuum.

A two-piece strapping tool having a manual tensioner and a battery-operated sealer is disclosed. The tensioner is a feedwheel tensioner that uses a serrated feedwheel to grip a first portion of the strap and a tension gripper to hold a second portion of the strap in a stationary position. The tensioner is configured to matingly receive the sealer between the tensioner's support legs such that the sealer may readily engage the overlapping portions of the strap to be welded. The sealer is battery-operated and uses a vibrational-type weld assembly driven by an electrical motor to weld overlapping portions of the strap. The sealer also includes a cutting assembly to sever the welded strap from a strap source.

A process for producing a package comprising a composition contained within a closed water soluble envelope comprises the initial steps of moulding a first sheet of water soluble material to form at least one recess adapted to contain the composition, placing the composition in the at least one recess, placing a second sheet of water soluble material across the recess, and sealing the first sheet to the second sheet to form a continuous closed seal around the recess thereby closing the package. The or each closed package is conditioned in an environment of raised relative humidity for a period of time prior to or during the packaging of the package within a secondary pack. The secondary pack includes a moisture barrier to maintain the package within the secondary pack in a conditioned form.

The machine comprises a conveying mechanism, a frame, a supporting base plate, an automatic stacking mechanism, a primary pushing mechanism, an arranging and jacking mechanism, a film packing mechanism, a secondary pushing mechanism, a heat-seal mechanism, a paper currency bundle turnover mechanism and a PLC (programmable logic control) control system, wherein paper currency is sorted and bound, and is fed into the conveying mechanism; the paper currency is fed into the automatic stacking mechanism by the conveying mechanism, and is subjected to pre-arrangement, counting, 5-bundle direction change and stacking; 10 bundles of paper currency is pushed into the arranging and jacking mechanism by the primary pushing mechanism after the paper currency bundles are stacked; the paper currency bundles are jacked to the secondary pushing mechanism after being arranged; the flat arranged paper currency bundles are pushed into the heat-seal mechanism by the secondary pushing mechanism, and are packaged; the paper currency bundles are moved out by the paper currency bundle turnover mechanism after the paper currency bundles are packaged. The automatic paper currency stacking and binding integrated machine has the advantages that paper currency can be automatically treated when the machine is used jointly with a sorting machine and a sealant shrinker, and the machine is compact in structure, stable and reliable, easy to operate and convenient to maintain.

A method and system for packaging multiple bedding products. The method includes compressing a stack of individual compressed and sealed mattresses between an upper shipping support and a lower shipping support and restraining subsequent expansion of the individual compressed and sealed mattresses with bands enclosing the upper and lower shipping supports and the stack of compressed and sealed mattresses.

A method for packaging plastic material using a film to surround the material, and more particularly to a method for packaging hot melt adhesives, the resulting package formed thereby, and the film composition used therein. The method is preferably a coextrusion process for packaging a pressure sensitive hot melt adhesive by extruding a hot melt adhesive through a die orifice, and coextruding a wax-based polymeric film to surround the hot melt adhesive. The coated adhesive may then be formed into individual packaged units having a finite size and shape. The polymeric film comprises a composition having at least 25% by weight of a wax material, an enthalpy of fusion of at least about 100 J/g, and an elongation value at break of at least about 100%. Any type of hot melt adhesive formulation can be packaged or surrounded by the polymeric film in the process. Also, the specific enthalpy of fusion desired and/or elongation value at break desired for the polymeric film can be obtained by blending an appropriate amount of partially crystalline ethylene-based polymer together with a thermoplastic elastomeric block copolymer and/or an ethylene based or propylene-based elastomer.
