However, this calibration would disrupt normal operations and is not feasible in continuous transmission systems such as backhaul systems
A limited number of methods have been proposed to jointly estimate transmitter and receiver side mismatches, however, their complexity is very high, which makes their implementation in real hardware impractical

Embodiment Construction

[0048]This document discloses a method and apparatus for implementing a high-speed low-latency full-duplex wireless point-to-point link. This includes sending one or more training sequences, performing channel estimation and equalization, channel feedback, transmitter and receiver filtering, and applying transmitter and receiver filtering to data loads in specially configured frame structures. I / Q offset estimation and compensation are also optionally performed.

[0049] Figure 1A A schematic block diagram of a basic baseband communication system 100 is shown. The basic baseband communication system 100 includes a transmitter 110 that communicates with a receiver 130 via a channel 120 .

[0050] In system 100, linear equalization is performed in both transmitter 110 and receiver 130. More specifically, transmitter 110 includes variable linear equalizer 112 as well as fixed linear equalizer 114 , while receiver 130 includes linear equalizer 138 only.

Abstract

A communication system including a transmitter and a receiver is disclosed. The transmitter transmits frames, at least two consecutive frames containing different training sequences. The receiver receives the data transmitted from the transmitter through the channel. The receiver combines and jointly processes at least two consecutive frames transmitted by the transmitter to estimate the channel state of the channel.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to digital communication over channels, and in particular to linear equalizers for use in low latency high speed communication systems. Background technique [0002] Wireless communications in millimeter wavelength bands, such as the E-band (71-76 GHz and 81-86 GHz), typically have data rates on the order of gigabits per second (Gbps). At such high data rates, mitigating inter-symbol interference (ISI) caused by multipath propagation of radio signals in wireless channels and signal reflections caused by connecting cables has been a significant technical challenge. [0003] Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and its variants such as Single Carrier with Frequency Domain Equalization (SC-FDE) typically handle large multipath delay spreads in broadband communications. However, equalization of OFDM signals in the frequency domain introduces large processing delays and also reduces spectral efficiency d...
