Abstract

In some embodiments, an apparatus includes a monitor module configured to monitor a set of performance indicators associated with a first network topology of a wireless network provider system. In a first network topology, a set of virtual baseband units serves a set of remote radio heads. The device includes a detector module configured to detect, at a first time, an operating condition of a wireless network provider system based on at least one value associated with a set of performance indicators. The apparatus also includes an optimization module configured to define a second network topology for the set of virtual baseband units based on the operating conditions. The optimization module is also configured to send a signal to the virtual baseband unit pool manager to configure the wireless network provider system in the second network topology at a second time after the first time.
