The method comprises the steps of obtaining portrait data of each user in potential users; extracting a target feature in the portrait data; according to the target feature, calculating a conversion probability of each user in the potential users through a preset classification model; and obtaining a preset conversion probability, and taking the user with the conversion probability greater than the preset conversion probability in the potential users as a target user. Therefore, the obtained target user can be conveniently converted into a new user online; under the condition of meeting the conversion cost, the target user is converted into a converted user to the maximum extent; and the problem of increased conversion cost of a merchant due to high possibility of low conversion rate of converting the screened user into the new user caused by an insufficiently accurate screening result obtained through a simple screening mode in related technologies is avoided.
