[0140] 2. Accessories

[0141] Six accessories are available, accessories 1 to 6. The dimensions of each fitting 1 to fitting 6 are the same, with only the material being changed in all fittings. Each fitting 1 to 6 has a base wall with a thickness of 0.8 mm and a base diameter of 12 mm.

[0142] The materials and compositions of Fittings 1 to 6 are shown in Table 3.

[0143] 3. Processing conditions

[0144] Each fitting (fitting 1 to fitting 6) was placed between two opposing membranes of membrane 1 (from Table 1) with the sealing layers facing each other.

[0145] Each fitting-membrane configuration was subjected to a two-step sealing process (flat seal, then shrink seal) under the following conditions.

Abstract

The present disclosure provides a container. In one embodiment, a flexible container (8) is provided and comprises a first multilayer film (16) and a second multilayer film (18). Each multilayer film includes a sealing layer. The multilayer films are arranged such that the sealing layers are opposed to each other and the second multilayer film is superimposed on the first multilayer film. The membranes are sealed along a common peripheral edge (20). The flexible container includes a fitting (10) having a base (12). The substrate (12) comprises an ethylene / α-olefin multi-block copolymer. The flexible container includes a fitting seal (22) comprising the substrate between the multilayer films. The substrate is sealed to each multilayer film at a portion of the common peripheral edge (20).

Description

Background technique [0001] The present disclosure relates to flexible containers with flexible fittings. [0002] Flexible bags with rigid pouring spouts for storing and delivering flowable materials, commonly referred to as "pour bags", are known. Many conventional pouring bags utilize rigid pouring spouts with winglets at the base of the spout. Each winglet is a structure perpendicular to the base, each winglet extending radially away (in the opposite direction) from the annular base of the nozzle. The winglets serve to increase the surface area of the annular base in order to promote adhesion between the nozzle and the flexible packaging film. [0003] However, winglets are problematic because they require specialized heat seal strips to effectively seal the winglets to the flexible film package. Specialized heat seals require a unique shape that matches the shape of the nozzle base and winglets. Additionally, the heat sealing method requires precise and matched alig...
