Abstract

The present disclosure provides a power supply device and a control method thereof. The power supply device includes a power source conversion circuit, a power factor correction circuit and an output voltage control circuit; the power source conversion circuit includes a primary side and a secondary side; the power source conversion circuit is used for receiving an input voltage and converting the input voltage into an output voltage; the power factor correction circuit is electrically connected with the primary side and is used for increasing the power factor of the power supply device; the output voltage control circuit is electrically connected with the secondary side and is used for controlling the voltage level of the output voltage; when the voltage level is lower than a preset level, the power factor correction circuit is turned off; and the output voltage control circuit detects the magnitude of output current and controls the power factor correction circuit to be turned off through control signals when the output current is larger than a preset current value, and therefore, conversion efficiency reduction caused by a condition that the power factor correction circuit is turned off under a lightly-loaded state through control signals can be avoided.
