Examples of the present disclosure describe systems and methods for configuring general language understanding models. In various aspects, one or more previously configured patterns for various applications may be identified and collected. Generic patterns can be generated using the collected patterns. The collected patterns can be programmatically mapped to common patterns. Common patterns can be used to train one or more models. An interface can be provided to allow browsing of models. The interface may include a configuration mechanism that provides one or more of the models for selection. The selected model can be programmatically bound such that the information and instructions required to implement the model are programmatically configured. The bound model can then be provided to the requester.
