Embodiment Construction

[0101] now refer to Figure 5 , shows the triggering arrangement for configuring the MDT operation starting from the MDT server or tracking server (referred to as Element Manager EM) to the MME via the Subscriber Database (HSS) providing subscriber and location information. The MME can be understood as a central core network management entity, which triggers the MDT operation of the sub-network it is managing.

[0102] According to prior art MDT deployments, the MME triggers the corresponding eNB to start tracking the measurements of the UE (or a group of UEs), and the eNB configures the corresponding measurements via appropriate RRC-level messages (see figure 1 ).

[0103] To enhance MDT operation with service level information, two alternative signaling methods are provided:

[0104] Option 1: Enhance the existing MDT measurement configuration to include service-level measurement descriptions.

[0105] This option is possible where changes to the current message structur...

Abstract

The present invention provides a method for a user equipment, UE, device to perform measurements in order to assess network performance, preferably minimization of drive test, MDT, measurements, the method comprising receiving configuration information at the UE, the configuration information providing information for controlling service specific measurements and for controlling tagging of measurement reports by the UE with at least one of a service flow identifier and an indication that the measurement relates to one of a single service data flow and a multiplicity of service data flows.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to measurements performed in conjunction with the so-called Minimized Drive Test (MDT) feature introduced for mobile communications, and in particular issued by the 3GPP organization, for example in a release known as "Release 10" or "Rel-10" standard. Background technique [0002] As an example, EP 2 763 455 A1 describes a mobile communication method supporting MDT. [0003] In state RRC_CONNECTED, a radio resource control (RRC) connection has been established for data transmission to / from a user equipment device (UE), and the mobility of the UE is controlled by the infrastructure and assisted by the UE. This means that the infrastructure side can trigger a handover from one base station (evolved Node B, eNB) to another base station based on measurements collected by and received from the UE. [0004] In state RRC_IDLE mobility is fully under the control of the UE. This means that based on the measurements collected by...
