Abstract

An actuation device for actuating a switchable valve train component (80) of an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The device comprises a rod (33) for contacting an actuation source and for contacting said switchable valve train component (80), and a biasing mechanism. The biasing mechanism contacts the rod. In use, when the switchable valve train member (33) is in a deactivated state, when the actuation source attempts to actuate the switchable valve train member (80) through the rod to move the rod (33), The biasing mechanism is biased by the rod.
