Abstract

The invention relates to a TVP sheath for a submarine cable and a preparation method thereof. The TVP sheath includes two foamed TVP protective layers which are welded to each other and a metal composite belt which is arranged between the two foamed TVP protective layers, wherein the foamed TVP protective layer includes the following components: in parts by weight, 65-70 parts of aluminum powder-doped EPDM, 15-25 parts of PP, 10-15 parts of toughening filler, 2-5 parts of a rosin soap foaming agent, 1-2 parts of a promoter DM, 0.3-2 parts of a promoter DPTT and 1-3 parts of a stabilizer, and the metal composite belt includes a metal substrate and an isocyanate-containing composite binder which is coated on both sides of the metal substrate. The aluminum powder-doped EPDM and PP are mixed,the toughening filler is then added, and the tensile strength, impact resistance, abrasion resistance and other performance of the protective layer can be improved significantly; the texture compactness of the protective layer can be improved significantly through combined use of the rosin soap foaming agent, the promoter DM and the promoter DPT, and the prepared TPV sheath has excellent tensile properties, impact resistance, abrasion resistance and water impermeability, and is a suitable sheath for the submarine cable.
