Embodiment Construction

[0036] In the following description of the exemplary embodiments and in the attached figures, identical or similar elements have the same numerical references as in the figures.

[0037] Embodiments of the invention will be described below in the non-limiting context of a radio receive chain of a car radio of a motor vehicle. The present invention is of course not limited to this example at all. The invention is applicable to all radio receive chains present in the vehicle.

[0038] figure 1A car radio 1 is shown arranged at the dashboard of a motor vehicle. The car radio 1 includes a human-machine interface 10 or IHM (or HMI, referring to “Human-Machine Interface (Human-Machine Interface)” in English), which has a display screen 11 and control and adjustment buttons 12 .

[0039] Buttons 12 are arranged to be easily actuated by hand by the driver, and screen 11 is used to display, for example, available channels, names and other information related to the radio program bei...

Abstract

Disclosed is a self-test method for a radio frequency reception chain of a motor vehicle comprising a reception antenna (21) followed by a reception amplifier (22), as well as a demodulator (24) coupled to the reception amplifier by a radiofrequency cable (23). The method comprises activating (102) a radiofrequency source under the control of the demodulator, for the emission of a radiofrequency test signal which may be a spurious signal, the radiofrequency test signal has one or more harmonics of respective levels substantially known in the working frequency band of the tuner. The demodulatordetermines the radio performance of the radio reception chain upstream of the demodulator, on the basis of the effect on radio reception by said radio reception chain, and the harmonics of the test radio signals which are received by the reception antenna and transmitted to the demodulator through the reception chain.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to radio frequency receivers on motor vehicles, and more particularly to a method of self-testing the radio frequency receive chain of a motor vehicle. Background technique [0002] Radios for motor vehicles or car radios allow reception of radio programs via the Hertz route. Broadcasters transmit these radio programs in the form of radio frequency (RF) signals. These RF signals are modulated in a more or less complex way by signals in the "auditory frequency" range, which in acoustics refers to signals that are audible to humans at frequencies between 20Hz and 20kHz. [0003] Historically, the first signals to be broadcast on radio in this way were analogue, specifically in the form of amplitude modulated (AM, which stands for "Amplitude Modulation" in English), modulated longwave or GO (150kHz-300kHz), Or modulate shortwave or PO (525kHz-1605kHz). [0004] Then, Frequency Modulation (FM, which stands for "Fr...
