Problems solved by technology

Does not show how the action of the laser beam can be confined to the inside of the catheter wall and how to avoid the formation of surface irregularities
[0016] To date, no technical solution has been described for the proper and cost-effective production of discrete sonographic markers and labels on catheters with only negligible impact on the properties of use

Embodiment

[0047] This example describes the preparation of ultrasonic markers according to the invention on catheters.

[0048] A 2-layer catheter having an outer diameter of 3 mm, an outer layer thickness of 0.1 mm and an inner layer thickness of 0.3 mm was produced by means of a tube extrusion system. For both layers a TPU of the Elastollan 1180A10FC type is used. For the inner layer, a 1% masterbatch filled with laser additives was premixed with TPU granular material. The masterbatch prepared on the basis of TPU by compounding with an extruder contained 10% of antimony-doped tin oxide with a particle size in the range of 10-20 nm. Tubes were cut to length and labeled using a pulsed Yb fiber laser from FOBA. Rectangular marking 02 (image 1 ) was programmed with a dimension of 1 x 3mm and was achieved by a double laser after rotating the tube 180° around its entire circumference. By choosing suitable laser parameters, gray coloring and foaming is achieved at the marked position 02. ...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a medical device having an improved ultrasound visibility and a very smooth surface, to methods for producing the device according to the invention and to the application of the device in therapeutic and diagnostic interventions. The improved ultrasound visibility is achieved by bubbles or closed cavities in an inner polymer layer.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a medical device with improved ultrasound visibility, to a method for producing a device according to the invention, and to the use of the device in therapeutic and diagnostic interventions. [0002] Diagnostic ultrasound (sonography) is the most commonly used imaging method worldwide in extended clinical examinations. In the case of invasive procedures, it offers the possibility of harmless monitoring of the process and at the same time the possibility of physician intervention. [0003] Medical devices include catheters, cannulas, needles, stents, implants, dilators, balloons or markers. In the following, all these discussed medical devices are referred to as catheters by way of example. What is said about catheters also applies to cannulas, needles, stents, implants, dilators, balloons or markers. [0004] Of great clinical relevance in this context is the visualization of the catheter by means of ultrasound. For optimal p...
