The invention discloses a rotary compressor and a control method thereof. The rotary compressor comprises a shell, a first cylinder, a second cylinder, a first blade and a second blade, wherein the first cylinder is provided with a first air suction channel and a second air suction channel; the first end of the first air suction channel is communicated with a reservoir outside the shell through athrough hole arranged in the shell; the second end of the first air suction channel is connected to an inner cavity of the first cylinder; the first end of the second air suction channel is communicated with the inner space of the shell; the second end of the second air suction channel is connected to the inner cavity of the first cylinder. According to the rotary compressor and the control methodthereof, the connection of the first air suction channel and the second air suction channel is controlled through sliding of a sliding block; when the first air suction channel is connected, the cylinder works normally; and when the second air suction channel is connected, the cylinder is filled with a high-pressure refrigerant in order to stop compressing the refrigerant, so that the switching of the capacity of the compressor is achieved, and the requirements for different loads in different seasons are met.
