Embodiment Construction

[0027] first reference figure 1 , the swimming fin is generally identified by the reference numeral 100 . Swimming fin 100 may include an in-line for receiving a swimmer's foot. figure 1 A full boot or shoe or open foot pocket 110 is shown. A heel strap may be provided to secure the swimmer's foot in the foot pocket 110 . Fin blades 114 may extend from foot pocket 110 . Fin blade 114 may include a substantially planar surface for directing water flow across swim fin 100 . The fin track 116 may extend along the lateral edges of the fin blades 114 . The foot bag 110 may include a ventilation area 118 to minimize parachute when moving through the water and also to minimize suction when removing the user's foot from the foot bag 110 .

Abstract

The invention relates to a swimming fin. The swimming fin may include a foot pocket configured to receive a foot of a swimmer and a fin blade extending from the foot pocket. A relatively rigid base base may be bonded to the foot pouch. The fin blades may be relatively flexible. The fin track may extend along a lateral edge of the fin blade. The fin track may include a fin ridge including a plurality of fin ridge segments in a linear configuration. The fin ridge may be configured to provide predetermined hydrodynamic characteristics for the swimming fin. The swimming fin may flex within a maximum angle of attack, which may be variable and dynamically varies within a predetermined range of maximum angles of attack as a function of kicking force generated by the swimmer during the kicking cycle.
