Problems solved by technology

[0011] One problem with this method, however, is that using the sealing rubber to seal the opening of the cable channel is an expensive and technically demanding process, which requires custom machining to produce the sealing rubber for the opening of the cable channel

Abstract

A method of manufacturing a speaker housing includes providing a precursor speaker housing, a first port, a second port, an adhesive channel extending from the first port to the second port; injecting an unhardened adhesive into the first port; and hardening the adhesive. The precursor speaker housing includes a cable channel extending from a cable opening in an outer wall of the housing to an interior space within the housing. A cable is located in the cable channel such that the cable extends from outside the housing and through the cable channel to an interior space within the housing. An adhesive channel extends around a cable located in the cable channel and is partially defined by an outer surface of the cable. Injecting an unhardened adhesive into the first port forces the unhardened adhesive along the adhesive channel such that the adhesive contacts the outer surface of the cable. A hardened adhesive attaches the cable to the housing and seals the cable channel.

Description

[0001] Field of Invention [0002] The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a loudspeaker housing and a loudspeaker housing produced by such a method. Background technique [0003] When making speaker housings for housing speakers, it is conventional to install audio cables that run from the outside of the speaker housing to the inside of the speaker to transmit electrical signals into speaker holes mounted in the speaker housing speaker. Speakers are typically constructed to produce audio corresponding to electrical signals conveyed by audio cables. [0004] When installing audio cables, it is often important to seal the cable channels along which the audio cables pass out of the speaker housing. Inadequate hermetic sealing will result in sound waves escaping from the speaker housing. This is known to cause unwanted popping and / or whistling. [0005] Two common methods of sealing cable passages in loudspeaker enclosures are: using adhesives and using sea...
