Abstract

Tamping machine (1) comprises a machine frame (2) supported on two rail vehicles (3), and a unit frame (11) arranged between the rail vehicles and moving via a chassis (14) on the railway. The unit frame is connected to the machine frame via a frame support (17) so that it can be longitudinally displaced and has a height-adjustable tamping unit (19) and a rail-lifting unit (20) between the chassis and the frame support. The frame support is mounted on the machine frame so that it can be displaced normal to the machine longitudinal direction (12) and is connected to a transverse drive (26) hinged on the machine frame.A tamping machine for tamping ballast underneath ties of a railroad track includes a machine frame extending in a longitudinal direction and supported for mobility on the track by two undercarriages.
