Abstract

A speaker cone is provided that contains a base portion, and the base portion has a front end and a rear end. The front end contains a plurality of discontinuities such that a first distance from a reference point on a longitudinal axis of the base portion to a first point on the front end is different than a second distance from the reference point to a second point on the front end. By creating the plurality of discontinuities in the front end of the base portion, the distortion or reduction in the amplitude of a flexural wave generated by the speaker cone is dramatically reduced.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a whizzer cone for a loudspeaker. More specifically, the present invention relates to a sounding cone capable of improving the frequency response of a loudspeaker by effectively radiating mid-range to high-frequency frequencies. technical background [0002] In order to accurately simulate the sound of an input audio signal, a loudspeaker must be able to accurately produce the sound of the input audio signal over a wide frequency range. For example, an input audio signal corresponding to a musical song has a wide frequency range involving the multiple instruments producing the music and the human voice corresponding to the lyrics accompanying the music. Thus, for accurate analog audio signals, the loudspeaker typically has at least one main speaker cone for the low and center frequency bands of the analog audio signal. Moreover, since the main speaker cone cannot effectively simulate the high-frequency sound, a sounding cone ...
