Condenser microphone

A condenser microphone includes a support, a plate having a fixed electrode bridged across the supports, a diaphragm, which has a moving electrode at a center portion thereof and which vibrates due to sound waves applied thereto, and a spacer, in which a first end is fixed to the plate, and a second end is fixed to the near-end portion of the diaphragm so as to surround the center portion of the diaphragm, wherein an air gap is formed between the plate and the diaphragm. This reduces the tensile stress of the diaphragm so as to increase the amplitude of vibration of the diaphragm. Hence, it is possible to increase the sensitivity of the condenser microphone. A structure constituted of the plate, the diaphragm, and the spacer is bridged across the support by means of the bridges, which absorb the residual stress of the diaphragm due to the deformation thereof.

Gasket member, diaphragm, flat panel speaker, method of mounting same flat panel speaker, and method of assembling electronic device

A method of mounting a flat panel speaker is provided which is capable of reliably preventing entry of dust and of shortening assembling time. By bonding a gasket member to a diaphragm, by pasting a separator to a gasket member side opposite to the diaphragm and, by sandwiching the diaphragm and the gasket member from both sides, a gasket-attached diaphragm is fabricated. After peeling off a protecting sheet on a rear side of the gasket-attached diaphragm, the actuator module is bonded to the diaphragm. Then, after peeling the separator from the gasket-attached diaphragm, positioning is performed on the diaphragm and the gasket member is bonded to a putting-face of the front case. The entry of dust into a region corresponding to a liquid crystal display panel is blocked by a partitioning portion of the gasket member.

Silicon microphone with softly constrained diaphragm

A microphone sensing element and a method for making the same are disclosed. The sensing element has a diaphragm and an attached electrical lead-out arm preferably made of polysilicon that are separated by an air gap from an underlying backplate region created on a conductive silicon substrate. The backplate region has acoustic holes created by removing an oxide filling in a continuous trench that surrounds hole edges and by removing oxide to form the air gap. The diaphragm is softly constrained along its edge by an elastic element that connects to a surrounding rigid polysilicon layer. The elastic element is typically a polymer such as parylene having a Young's modulus substantially less than that of the diaphragm. First and second electrodes are connected to the diaphragm through the lead-out arm and to the substrate through polysilicon via fillings, respectively, and thereby establish a variable capacitor circuit for acoustic sensing.
